Treatment for lung disease
Lung Center of Nevada provides evaluation, diagnosis and referrals for treatment options to patients with lung and bronchus cancer as well as treatment for various pulmonary diseases including asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, chronic cough and nicotine dependence.
CCCN offers low-dose CT lung cancer screenings for patients of two high-risk groups; patients that are 55 years and older who have smoked for 30 or more pack years. A pack year is defined as 20 cigarettes smoked every day for one year. The second high-risk group consists of patients 50 years and older who have smoked for 20 or more pack years. Patients with select risk factors include those who have been exposed to radon, have worked in a chemical-heavy environment or have a family history of lung cancer or a related disease, such as COPD or pulmonary fibrosis. The CT scan service is currently available at the Central Valley location, Southwest location and Henderson location. For more information about the service, visit our Diagnostic Imaging page.
Treatment for sleep disorders
The pulmonary division also treats patients suffering from sleep disorders at the Desert Sleep Disorders Center (DSDC), a full service sleep disorders center with four Board Certified Sleep Medicine doctors as well as a highly trained staff of technicians. The sleep center specializes in patient care, focusing on the needs and concerns of the patient to provide the highest quality of service.
There is a number of sleep disorders that can decrease a person’s quality of life and can cause problems if left untreated, including:
Sleep Apnea is a common sleep disorder cause by the soft tissue in the throat falling and blocking the airway. When this happens, our bodies naturally wake us up briefly to open the airway so we can breathe again. Sleep Apnea can cause complications down the road if not treated early. Treatment options range from machines that help with breathing to surgery.
Other Sleep Disorders (partial list)
- Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep (PLMS)
