CyberKnife® Radiosurgery

Las Vegas CyberKnife® at Summerlin provides precise treatment options.

Las Vegas CyberKnife® at Summerlin was established in 2010 to bring the most innovative and advanced technology to Southern Nevada. The robotic technology of CyberKnife® Radiosurgery offers patients with tumors a painless, non-invasive treatment alternative that requires no anesthesia and offers shorter recovery times.

CyberKnife®, which is exclusive to Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), uses computer-operated robotics and image guidance technology to treat hard-to-reach tumors. It tracks and destroys tumors in the body or brain while accounting for the patient’s breathing, which can cause tumors to move during the procedure, and eliminates the need for patients to wear an invasive stereotactic head frame to target localization.

Additionally, CyberKnife’s® sub-millimeter accuracy eliminates damage to healthy tissue surrounding the tumor site.

CyberKnife® offers a new approach to Stereotactic Radiosurgery, which uses precisely targeted doses of radiation to treat tumors, lesions and other select medical disorders. An outpatient procedure, CyberKnife® destroys tumors without the risks and complications of conventional surgery and can treat malignant and benign intracranial tumors, and many other tumor sites in the body such as liver, head and neck, pelvis, lung, pancreas, spine and brain. CyberKnife® has also become the treatment of choice for medically inoperable stage I non-small cell lung cancer. Results from multiple series published across the world have shown excellent tumor control and survival in these patients.

CyberKnife® can also re-treat patients who were previously treated with radiation. According to the International RadioSurgery Association (IRSA), body radiosurgery treatments are rare without this advanced technology.

Las Vegas CyberKnife® at Summerlin was made possible through a partnership between Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada’s radiation oncologists, Select HealthCare Solutions and Summerlin Hospital. The treatment machine is located at the CCCN radiation oncology office located on the campus of Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.
