Dr. Heather J. Allen completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University and received her medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Utah and her fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Allen is a medical oncologist at Comprehensives Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), who specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and actively participates in clinical research at the practice.
Dr. Allen has been practicing in Las Vegas since completing her medical training in 1981. She is a past President of the Clark County Medical Society and Nevada State Medical Association and past Chairman of the Board of Blood Systems Incorporated. Dr. Allen also helped establish the Sunrise Breast Center at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.
Dr. Allen cares for her patients in two ways. First, through a multidisciplinary treatment approach, which she believes is essential because treatment planning involves many other specialists including breast surgeons, pathologists, radiation oncologists as well as nurses, pharmacists, members of the research team, counselors, etc. Second, every treatment plan is individualized according to the specifics of each case as well as the needs of the patient. She believes that it’s important that her patients are well cared for and also feel well cared for.
Dr. Allen has received numerous awards including Top Doctors by Desert Companion, Vegas Seven, Vegas Inc., Medical Marvels and Healthcare Heroes by Nevada Business magazine, and Local Ladies by Las Vegas Woman Magazine. In 2012, she received the Senoras of Excellence award from the Latin Chamber of Commerce for her contribution to the community’s enrichment. Dr. Allen also received the 2013 ATHENA International Leadership Award by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and was inducted into the hall of fame in 2014.
Dr. Allen is married and has one daughter who works as a chemical engineer. Her motto is that in this country it doesn’t matter where you came from, it matters where you are going.
