Support Groups
Cancer affects far more than the body—your
psychological and emotional health must also be considered. You
may be abruptly forced to face your frailty or mortality, which
can bring severe anxiety and stress. You may also experience side
effects from drugs used to treat your cancer such as insomnia, nausea
or sexual dysfunction.
At Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN),
we focus on the whole person during treatments, and we also consider
the needs of your family members, caregivers and co-workers. You
will have access to numerous local and nationwide support programs
that can provide information, guidance, and an unparalleled understanding
of living through cancer.
Cancer Connection Support Groups
CCCN offers the Cancer Connection Support
Groups that are designed to allow cancer survivors and their families
the opportunity to share their stories of their health challenges
and survival skills, with cancer patients and their families, friends,
or caregivers. This group process allows participants to give and
receive support on a journey to restoring physical and emotional
well-being. Periodic guest speakers also provide education on a
variety of topics as well as teach practical techniques that augment
healing.
You and your family are invited to meet with, share and support other patients and their families, or simply just listen. Our support groups are led by CCCN’s Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Paula Sennes, LCSW, with expertise in the issues of grief and loss since 1971 and by Patient Counselor, Betsy Abreo, MBA.
