Education:
Dr. Thummala received her medical degree from Andhra University, India. During medical school years, Dr. Thummala received several academic awards, honors, university ranks and was adjudged "the best outgoing student"  in her class. She joined the Mount Sinai-Elmhurst Hospital Residency program in New York, where she was the best resident for two consecutive years and also served as the Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine. She completed her fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at University of Rochester in New York. During her fellowship, she was granted Amgen Fellowship award, Empire State Grant and Cancer Action grants for clinical and laboratory research.

Experience:
Dr. Thummala joined Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada in February 2006. She comes to us from Texas where she was practicing in a single speciality group. While practicing in Texas she acted as the Physician Liaison appointed by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and served on the Cancer Committee. She also worked as a Medical Director for a Hospice program.

Dr. Thummala's research has focused on Breast Cancer and has published the study on treatment of hot flashes in women with breast cancer.
