Nik Abdul Rashid, M.D.

Nik Abdul Rashid, MD, is board certified in pediatrics and has been a Pediatric Hematologist- Oncologist with Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada since 2005.

She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York in 2004. Dr. Rashid completed her pediatrics residency in 2001 at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. Prior to moving to New York City, she worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Trust in United Kindom where she spent most of her pediatric training as a senior house officer on the pediatric hematology and oncology unit. She received her Medical Degree (Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine; BSBM) from the University of Nottingham Medical School, United Kingdom in 1995.

Dr Rashid is the author of numerous scientific articles and has given many medical presentations about pediatric medicine. She is very active in teaching medical students and pediatric residents in the community as an Adjunct Faculty member of Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Nevada School of Medicine. She works closely with Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) as the medical facilitator for the pediatric sickle cell support group. She also volunteers for various summer camps sponsored by NCCF and Candlelighters. Dr. Rashid is a strong advocate for ensuring children with cancer and chronic diseases receive the help they need to maximize their potential in school and the community. In partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Nevada Chapter) and NCCF, she volunteers as an educational facilitator by providing lectures and workshops to Clark County School District staff including social workers, school nurses and teachers and parents.

She is currently a member of several professional associations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, National Hemophilia Foundation, American Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a member of the Nevada CCOP, and is a co-investigator for clinical trials available through the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She is also a member of the Cancer Committee at Sunrise Hospital and Medical center.

On a personal note, Dr. Rashid is originally from Malaysia. She is married and has two children. In her spare time, she loves to travel, hike and explore new places and eat good food.
